Creativity has always been more fun with friends, right?🤝
Think about it - some of the most incredible creative moments happen when talented minds collide. Like when Tyler, The Creator and Frank Ocean first started cooking up beats in a bedroom studio, before Odd Future took over the world. Or look at the Travis Scott x Fortnite collab which transformed a video game into a mind-blowing virtual concert experience for 12.3 million live viewers.
When Dua Lipa launched her 'Levitating' TikTok collab, it sparked this incredible chain reaction of creativity, with thousands of artists and animators worldwide reimagining the song in their own unique styles. Even Apple's "Shot on iPhone" campaigns showed us what's possible when a global community of photographers create together, proving that epic shots don't need epic equipment - all you need is a vision.
The power of creative collabs is huge 🚀
But Something's Missing…
Here's the thing - when it comes to most creative collabs, these are happening despite today's platforms, not because of them. Look at the apps and websites most creators use to share their work (and there's quite a few!) and you'll see that somewhere along the way, sharing creativity became less about creating together and more about broadcasting alone. Instead of "let's make something together", it became "look at what I made!"
The pressure to maintain the perfect feed took over. Algorithms started deciding what we'd see, with a shift away from a feed of those you 'follow' to a feed based heavily around algorithmically recommended content. Finding your creative tribe became like trying to have a deep conversation at a really loud party - technically possible, but exhausting.
We all felt it. That nagging sense that something was missing. That the endless scroll of perfectly curated content wasn't giving us the creative spark we were looking for. With constant algorithmic changes, many creators have found themselves having to change their creative output, often going against their true creative interests. Burn out and frustration started to set in.
The Underground Revolution…
Creators aren't giving up though. They're finding their own ways to connect. Discord communities and Facebook Groups are popping up everywhere, with artists sharing techniques, photographers critiquing each other's work, and creators from different disciplines finding ways to collaborate. Photographers on Instagram are often collaborating with one photographer editing another's image and both posting the results.
These spontaneous creative collabs showed us what's possible when creators properly connect. But imagine what could happen if there was a space actually designed for this kind of creative magic...
Time For Something Different 😏…

Well that's why we're building Kōlab. A home for creativity that's designed for collaboration from the ground up (the clue's in the name😉). A space where creatives from any discipline can naturally find each other, where inspiration flows freely, and where amazing creative collabs just... happen.
No more fighting algorithms or maintaining the perfect aesthetic. Instead, imagine stepping into creative Worlds where you can explore in any direction your curiosity takes you. Find your tribe in themed Islands where people share your specific passions. Team up with other creators to build something incredible together.
Want to see how landscape photographers interpret the same scene? There's a space for that. Curious about how a photographer's work might inspire a digital artist? That's exactly the kind of creative magic we're building for.
Your Invitation To Build Something Bigger 🎯
Here's the most exciting part - we're just getting started. Kōlab isn't finished, and that's intentional. Because we don't want to just build another platform, we want to spark a movement. And movements need pioneers.
That's where you come in. We're looking for curious creatures to join our founding community. People who get excited about discovering amazing work. Who believe in the power of collaboration. Who want to help shape what comes next and help us build this platform together. We're starting with photography but our vision is much greater - to build a space where artists, videographers, musicians, writers and designers can all find their tribe. But importantly, Kōlab isn't just for creators - we're building a platform that will be just as enjoyable for those that just want to explore what's taking place.
We're saving spots for The Founding 2000 - creative minds who'll set the tone for everything that follows. Want in?
Private beta launches on iOS in January 2025.
P.S. We're giving our founding members some pretty special perks, but you'll have to be quick - spots are limited! 😉
