Kōlab started with a simple question: what if there was a photography platform that actually helped you grow?
Our story
Kōlab was born from real conversations with over 450 photographers who shared their hopes, frustrations, and dreams with us. They told us they were tired of shouting into the void of algorithmic feeds. They wanted somewhere to genuinely connect with other photographers, get honest feedback, and rediscover the joy of creating.
So we built it. Kōlab is a collaborative platform for the creatively curious — a space where missions give your photography purpose, intelligent technique feedback helps you improve, and the community grows with you, not around you.
We're a small, independent team based in the UK. We're not backed by venture capital or advertisers. Every decision we make is guided by one question: does this help photographers create better work?

Yes. Kōlab is completely free to download and use. We believe great creative tools should be accessible to everyone.
We launched with aviation photography, and have since expanded to landscape and wildlife. Our vision is to serve all photography genres — each built with the depth and community it deserves.
Kōlab is currently available on iOS. Android is on our roadmap. This website lets you explore missions, browse community work, and view photographer profiles.
Every photo you share gets intelligent feedback across six technique categories — composition, lighting, colour, timing & motion, storytelling, and editing. It’s not a like button. It’s specific, personalised insight on what makes your photo work.
Every feature exists to help you grow creatively — from structured missions that push your boundaries to XP tracking that shows your progress over time. There are no algorithms, no ads, and no vanity metrics.
